How KML Succeeds and Fails as a Web Format

[Technical Ramblings] Although KMZ (zip) is sub-optimal, and a pain in the ass for developers, it’s also a necessary evil for performance in many use cases. For instance, while I use KML for individual resources, any query that has the potential to return hundreds of rows uses a KMZ representation.

Adding GeoURL support | drupal.org

[Issues for all projects] I can't imagine all the uses there could be, but I imagine pinpointing locations (and making them easily accessible via deep-links to mapping services, map plotting, etc) to be really helpful to people trying to organize/target community members in a way that can open up a door for Drupal in a CMS arena by being a platform that prevents virtual communities from dissipating into the virtual Ether of the internets.

Ogle Earth: GeoURL => Google Earth

[Ogle Earth] The result produces either static output or a network link for any site in the GeoURL database. This is a must-have network link for Google Earth, as far as I am concerned.

[Vector One] New expectations for our geographic information systems (GIS) arise and we expect our CAD systems to deliver something more.  Suddenly print changes to different types of representation and visualization in 2-D seems passe. What’s going on?

Use existing node location from location module for GeoURL/ICBM ...

[Issues for all projects] I had hoped that the meta tags module would recognize that a node had a location and output that location as the geoURL tag - but it doesn't. If a node already has a location set (using the location module) it seems kind of crazy to re-enter the value again in order to get a GeoURL tag output.
