Christian Spanring Transforms KML to GML

Spatially Adjusted with James Feehttp://www.spatiallyadjusted.com [Spatially Adjusted with James Fee] Christian also notes that once in GML, it is really easy to either use GML inside your GIS applications or with ArcGIS you’ll either need the Data Interoperability Extension or convert using GDAL. There has been a huge focus on getting ArcGIS maps into Google Earth, but I’m beginning to see the value of getting a KML file converted to shapefile or at least GML.

Geocoding Geotagging Photos with GPS Coordinates

http://www.gpsreview.net [ GPS Review] Some software will take a tracklog from your GPS device and match up your coordinates with a particular photo based on the date and time recorded by both devices. So if a photo was shot yesterday at 11:45 am the software will then read through your GPS tracklog and determine your coordinates at that time, and add the information to the meta data stored with the photograph.

Defending KML against the proprietary police

Spatially Adjusted with James Feehttp://www.spatiallyadjusted.com [Spatially Adjusted with James Fee] It would appear that the only salient difference in proprietary-ness is that KML was developed by a single company (albeit with input from others), whereas GML was developed by a standards committee. The salient difference in the marketplace is that KML is usable and hand-editable, whereas GML is rather too complex for use without tools.
