Google Maps for Europe & the Rise of GeoTagging

http://www.naturalsearchblog.com [Natural Search Optimization SEO Blog] We’re already seeing all sorts of interesting mashups of things which have been produced with the Google Maps API, so you can look forward to seeing even more interesting applications occur when people begin exploiting the data tie-ins that are going to be possible through the use of GeoTagging data. As Google expands their Maps to Europe and other countries, the incentive to usse their Map API only increases, too.

Planet Switzerland goes local

http://blog.bitflux.ch [ Bitflux Blog] This means, that only blogs show up on "location-search", who have those meta-tags on their homepage, even if you search for "country:Switzerland". And all blogs located in foreign countries do not show up either, since we don't have data for those (except Germany, but there's no blog up north with geodata), not even for Peru :).

Just Like The Future. Or, Clicker + Plazer.

http://ruk.ca [ruk.ca | peter rukavina's weblog] The end result: when I enter my office with my mobile phone in my pocket, Plazer marks me “Connected” and when I leave the office, I’m automagically marked “Not Connected.”

How many Starbucks until we get there?

http://www.multimediame.net [Multi-Media Me] In fact I sat in a meeting not 3 months ago and spoke of this exact eventuality. We are in the process of geo-coding the planet and we are just starting to see what all can be done with all this information based upon geographical proximity so it would make absolute sense or Adsense if you will for Google who brought us all this shinny new ajaxian mapping solution to cover every grid square with ads based upon

http://navahogunleg.net/blog [Navaho Gunleg] German newspaper Heise reports that Google Earth could be used by terrorists during some dumb-ass corrupt soccer-championship (hey there’s tooo much money going ’round in that business to be ruled by chance) to launch rockets on the stadium.

Yahoo! Releases Hi-Resolution Imagery for Entire Continental US

http://www.gearthblog.com [Google Earth Blog] Maps beta released 1-meter/pixel resolution color satellite photos for the entire continental US. This is significant because it is more consistent data instead of the patchwork of varying color, black and white, varying resolution imagery we are used to in other mapping applications like Google Maps/Earth, and Windows Live Local.

Google Earth Illustrates the Flight 800 Disaster

[Akkam’s Razor] Being a bit of the conspiracy theorist, I've never bought the "exploding fuel tank" explanation for the loss of Flight-800 on July 17th, 1996 off the coast of Long Island.

In my Plaze

http://andypiper.wordpress.com [The lost outpost] As an example, a new version of the Plazes launcher came out late last week (for Windows - it's called Plazer, and it is better than the .NET launcher I was using before), but I only found out about it by accident (NB the Linux launcher has been moved out of the limelight on the Plazes site, but it is still available - they are promising a new version later in the year)
