Flickr: Discussing Geotagging on My Flickr Map in GeoTagging Flickr

[GeoTagging Flickr] What I wound upwith is just a dot where the last 20 or so photos are located. How can I see an overall map of where my photos are taken, so that I can then zoom in on that area and see what photos were taken in that area.

 [Tagzania Blog | News and Announcements] But then, some months later, Flickr introduced its own mapping system, and people has began geotagging pictures massively, not with tripletags, but with Flickr's own mapping tool (based in Yahoo Maps). The process is now easier for photo fans, and therefore millions of photos are now geolocated in Flickr, much more are added everyday than in the tripletag era.

How to use flickr as a geocoder

[geobloggers] People enter tags for photos into flickr and people enter the location of those photos via a map (or GPS data). Which is effectively mapping tags to location and in this instance the photos are incidental (that’s left to Fotoland.us).

Interacting with Flickr and GeoURL

 [Tagzania Blog | News and Announcements] We also had a bookmarklet designed to upload automatically a location to Tagzania from Flickr, given that the Flickr photo was geotagged. When we introduced that feature, the most usual way to geo-locate photos at Flickr was the geotag tripletags: a set of three tags that users added manually or with the aid of other tools.

It's Maptacular!

 [Jason!] For a while, there was a rudimentary system to connect a picture to a location on Flickr via a system of tags and a link to another website (here's an example). The guy running it got hired by Yahoo! (or Flickr, maybe), the functionality on his website went away, and he proceeded (presumably) to integrate this into Flickr.

Flickr Adds Geotagging Features
