Geotags.org > Flickr update - 1.2 million photos geotagged in 24 hrs
[ExperienceCurve - Marketing. Social Media. Customer Experience.] When we were doing our projections for how many photos Flickr members would geotag, we though that we’d hit a million in the first month, maybe even as fast as two weeks. Instead, 24 hours in, there were 1,234,384 geotagged photos (and now more than 1.6 million geotagged photos as I write this, about 9 hours later).

[Makezine.com] MAKE: Blog: HOW TO GPS Tag Photos: Flickr, Mappr, Google Earth....: For my example, I kept the photos of the GPS (the location of the photos taken) on my hard drive, and just uploaded the photos I took of the actual places. For each photo, I've tagged where they were taken with the lat and lon, if you need to look up the addresses via Google you can do that now, or read them off your GPS photos like I did.
[Andrewferguson.net] Andrew Ferguson dot NET » Blog Archive » Flickr Geotagging: I'm writing to you because you have lots of geotagged photos and we're about to launch geotagging. Our system works in a slightly different, more "built in' way than what you've been doing so far, and does not require the "geotagged"/"geo:lat"/"geo:long" tags on your photos.
[Steeev.f2o.org] EXCELLATRONIC COMMUNICATIONS: Geotagging Flickr with Google Maps ...: @Mark J: Yes this would be doable, though the "geotagged" link serves a purpose, not everyone uses GreaseMonkey, in fact im sure its a very small percentage of the Flickr userbase. The geotagged link connects the flickr image back to geobloggers.com, and shows the flickr user whereabouts on the map the image was taken, and also other images that were taken in the same vicinity.
[Bloggersblog.com] Bloggers Blog: Flickr Offers Geotagging: Now Flickr photos can be tagged to indicate where individual photographs were taken. Flickr is offering a screencast that helps people learn how to geotag photos and another helper screencast to teach people how to search for geotagged photographs.
[Gearthblog.com] Google Earth Blog: Three Flickr Photo Browsing Tools for Google Earth: The first called Flickrmap I wrote about in January which has the ability to let you geotag your photos with Google Earth (like the recently released capability with Google Picasa). Flickrmap has now been updated to Flickrmap V2 and includes new features such as route lines linking photos based on a trip, slideshows based on location, and more (see announcement).
[Preoccupations] Gawping at Flickr Upcoming: More than 228,000,000 photos have been uploaded, with over a million new photos being added on a good day. There are billions of bits of data that go into the search (more than half a billion tags alone), along with privacy controls, group membership, and so on.
[ wongaBlog] Geotagging for Flickr using Picasa and Google... : Apparently they’ve had over 1.5 million photos added to maps since they launched the service at the weekend, which is quite impressive! I geotagged all the shots from my March trip to New York, and it’s cool to look at the resulting map then turn off the filter so that everyone’s photos are visible.

[Anything Geospatial (AnyGeo)] 1.4 million geotagged flickr images?: Apparently Flickr is taking tags like "New York City" and geo-referencing photos according to the tag. After reviewing closely, during the last 24 hours, many of the georeferenced photos seem to be done in this fashion.
