[earthbrowser] I've just come up with a *really* nice extension to KML that can drastically reduce the size of some datasets (e.g.: a 1.2 MB dataset is reduced to 60K) and at the same time enable functionality that is sorely missing. I'm not going to spill the beans on it quite yet since I've got another couple of enhancements that will enable even more great functionality.

[Off the Map - Official Blog of FortiusOne] Virtual Earth vs. Google MyMaps KML Support: We’ve thought about having the KML files in GeoCommons open directly in Google or MSVE via the URL, but have not been able to get around the log in requirement. [Ogle Earth] Microsoft WorldWide Telescope: The review: Nitpick: [Update: See comments for a solution] Finally, a small nitpick I hope a future version of WWT fixes: Different thumbnails of the same object displaying different positioned overlays of it often are linked to slightly different coordinates, so clicking between views leads WWT to pan and zoom, when really all I want it to do is switch between overlays of the same object to compare them. If Im not making myself clear, youll see what I mean as soon as youve played a bit with WWT.
