Geotags.org > KML to Layer cannot measure geometry - WGS84 reprojected with ...
[Forums] My problem is that I need to measure lengths (using the Calculate Geometry tool) on this newly created layer and in order to do that the layer must be in a Projected Coordinate System and not a Geographic Coordinate System. When I attempt to reproject the created WGS84 layer to the right coordinate system the units are inaccurate and cannot be used for length calculations.

[ESRI Blogs] Silverlight/WPF Blog : Auto-reprojecting graphics layers: For instance GeoRSS and KML always return data in WGS84 Geographic Coordinates (Spatial Reference ID: 4326), but promoted ArcGIS Online services use the WebMercator projection. If you dont reproject the data, all the points will display just off the coast of Africa.
[Thinking in GIS] A day with TileCache: generating KML Super-Overlays: Playing with the test page you may see a little but obviously problem: when TileCache needs to generate a tile from scratch, you need to wait! Perhaps wait-time is not significant at lower visualization scales, but at larger scales WMS service (that is the "real" tile generator) often needs to manage and process a very-large dataset, and a response delay of thirty seconds or more is not accettable.Fortunately, we could resolve this issue using tilecache_seed.py script (shipped with TileCache distribution) that simply generates "fake" requests to our service, forcing TileCache to generate tiles.Script usage is straightforward;
[Global Mapper Forum] Exporting feature data points in other formats beside UTM to the ...: My need (and I know Global Mapper is a gross overkill for this initial need) is the add a few dozen poly lines to represent the edges of lanes in an intersection drawn in the tool with 1cm precision (not accuracy) and export these, ideally in a WGS84 coordinate system rather then a UTM projection. I will probably do a ground survey of these points in time, but expect to just start with a hand digitalization using the xxx over a raster image.

[epsom road Blog] Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates: Map layers include satellite images (using Landsat7 data) with zoomlevels down to a resolution <100m, and daily updated MODIS satellite data.WikiMiniAtlas is currently enabled on Wikipedia (by clicking on the globe () beside the coordinates ). Pages marked with multiple coordinates or categories of articles with coordinates can be exported as KML (for use in Google Earth, for example) via the kmlexport tool.
[arcgis Explorer Blog] Exploring more earthquakes (let me count the ways): Here we've pulled out the Explorer time slider to show the entire date range from 2007 to current. Using the same text file from above we opened it in ArcCatalog as a feature class, creating a shapefile, and set the projection to WGS84 (the same as the input lat/long coordinates).
[Geotags.org] Geotags.org: publishing kml service: Noncontiguous cartograms in OpenLayers and Polymaps: Polymaps is brand new (from Stamen so you know it's going to blow your mind), but is remarkable for enabling web standards-based thematic customization of geographic .Geographic Transformations when exporting to KML: I have access to ArcGIS desktop, and I'd like to know what transformation(s) are performed by Global Mapper between NAD27 and WGS84 for northern .
[Laptop Battery Shop] Google Earth: There is also a community-layer from the project Wikipedia-World. More coordinates are used, different types are in the display and different languages are supported than the built-in Wikipedia layer (SONY VAIO .
