[Geospatial Industry News - GIS Lounge] AXIS Geospatial to Provide Several New GIS Base Map Layers for ...: Using various airborne technologies, AXIS will fly fixed-wing aircraft equipped precision aerial digital cameras and laser range-finding sensors (LiDAR) to create new base map layers which will be used in several Prince George’s County GIS Applications. Upon capturing digital imagery using an Intergraph DMC camera and a Leica ALS52 LiDAR sensor, AXIS will produce digital data such as high resolution color and color infrared imagery (digital orthoimagery), a countywide map showing all physical improvements within the county (planimetric base maps), a countywide LiDAR digital terrain model with topography delineating elevations at a 2-foot interval as well as several other GIS Layers such as an Impervious Surface Model.
